A Different Approach to Chardonnay

CHARDONNAY,the ADONNA WAY.

There’s a reason Chardonnay has such a wide range of expressions. It can be rich and round, bright and mineral-driven, or somewhere in between. For us, the best versions are the ones that let the vineyard and the fruit speak first.

Our 2024 Chardonnay from Martaella Vineyard is a reflection of what we love about this variety: freshness, texture, and the character that comes from letting the fruit lead.

Grown in the Russian River Valley, this Chardonnay opens with bright citrus, fresh pear, and elderflower before unfolding into layers of nectarine, peach, lemon curd, and honeycomb. The palate is vibrant and focused, with mouthwatering acidity that carries the wine through a long, polished finish.

What you won’t find here:

Heavy oak. Layers of butter or vanilla masking the fruit. Flavors that overpower what the vineyard naturally brings.

Instead, this is a more mineral-driven expression of Russian River Valley Chardonnay, built around freshness, energy, and the natural character of the site. That approach earned our 2024 Chardonnay Gold at the Press Democrat North Coast Wine Challenge.

That focus on fruit has always been part of our family story. Donna’s great-grandfather was a peach grower, and that appreciation for letting quality fruit speak for itself continues to influence the way we approach winemaking today.

It’s also the philosophy guiding the future of Chardonnay at Canfield Vineyard. Earlier this year, we grafted Chardonnay onto our estate vineyard, where the young vines are already thriving. Our first estate Chardonnay is expected at harvest in 2027, bringing this same focus on fruit and balance to our own vineyard.

We’re excited to share the 2024 Chardonnay from Martaella Vineyard now, and to watch this next chapter of Chardonnay at Adonna continue to grow.
