Mid-summer at Canfield Vineyard
A LITTLE COLOR,A LOT OF LIFE
One of our favorite things about this time of year is how quickly the vineyard begins to change. Full vines, drooping grape clusters, and a thriving, sustainable ecosystem.
A few weeks ago, the clusters at Canfield Vineyard were uniformly green. Now, if you walk the rows, you'll start spotting flashes of color throughout the blocks as veraison gets underway. Our Clone 777 Pinot Noir grapes are showing a hint of purple, but the color continues to bloom more and more every day under the Russian River Valley sunshine.
There is still plenty of work happening before harvest arrives. Our team continues managing the vineyard canopy, making adjustments to ensure the vines have the right balance of sunlight and airflow as the fruit develops.
We’re also nurturing our newly grafted and planted young Chardonnay vines. Our first estate Chardonnay from Canfield Vineyard is growing strong, with our first estate fruit expected at harvest in 2027.
